HOW TO PROPERLY HANDLE YOUR LAUNDRY DURING VIRUS OUTBREAK.
Coronavirus has affected every aspect of our life. It has improved our hygiene higher than ever before. Recent studies have shown that coronavirus can survive on different materials including your clothes. As per the medical advisories of Centre for Disease Control laundry should be handled with extreme care to prevent the spread of infection. You should take the necessary precautions if you are using laundromats outside the home.
PERSONAL HYGIENE
Wear gloves while touching the machines in the laundromats. Also, make sure that you practice social distancing. If you don’t wear gloves, strictly sanitize your hands with alcohol-based sanitisers after loading the machine.
SEPARATE LOADS
Clothes of sick and healthy individuals should be collected separately. Dress materials of infected individuals should be handled and washed with care. Be careful to run different loads for infected and healthy individuals' clothes. Add chlorine or oxygen-based bleaching agents while washing sick individuals dress.
BLEACH
Bleach is a disinfecting agent that kills germs. They are commonly used in hard surfaces and hence you cannot use high-grade bleaches on your laundry. Mild grade bleaches that are specially designed for clothes will reduce the damage in your clothes and give protection against infection.
HOT WATER WASHING
It is advised to wash clothes in warm water to prevent the spread of infections. The Centre for Disease Control recommends that the temperature of the water should be between 40 -60-degree Celsius to ensure disinfection of clothes. Be careful to adjust the temperature according to the type of cloth material.
Ensure that your clothes do not touch any smooth surfaces of your house before washing. Wash your hands immediately after touching the clothes. Apart from these strictly follow all the basic precautions to fight the current pandemic.
